Over the years, the number of students in Team 1241 has increased by a great amount since the day they first introduced Robotics to the school. As the days progress and the months accumulate, each student's time with Theory 6 and all the experiences it has to offer seems to go by in a flash. Before they know it, it's already graduation, and the four years of high school and Robotics are already over. But for the former students of team 1241, the dream doesn't end there just yet. They may not be pupils of Theory 6 anymore, but they've acquired a new title: Mentors of Team 1241.
All of the members of Team 1241 consider ourselves very lucky to have so many wonderful mentors who are more than willing to spend so much of their own time to come back to Robotics to further coach us on our tasks. Our team is very fortunate to have a variety of mentors, ranging from University students to Engineers and Business specialists whose areas of expertise are important assets to the team.
These mentors are vital to any FIRST team, team 124 couldn't agree more. They share their experiences from their time on the team and help us grow bigger and better each year.
Theory 6 is looking for these individuals that are in the industry, who have gone through the same problems and ordeals as the students currently on the team. We need mentors who have the skills and knowledge that would be vital to a successful team. Not only will they be teaching the youth, but they will also realize that they, too, are learning. Together, we all move forwards as one, always helping each other out.
Mentors that help the youth build self confidence, build character, and knowledge are role models we look up to. Day in, day out, and even until the wee hours of the morning, they are working with us and always lending us a helping hand. The mentors work with all the students of different subgroups on the tasks they are occupied with, offering their advice and experience. If you are a mentor looking for an amazing experience which helps others as well as your self joining theory 6 is a great path to take. The amount of learning and excitement is unbelievable when experienced professionals are there to help!
One of the most important quotes Team 1241 has is: "The end is just the beginning." The mentors of our team are the best living example of this quote. What was the end for them years ago was really the start of something completely new. Even for the mentors who are not originally students of Rick Hansen apply to these words. With the wonderful and continuous help from the mentors, Team 1241 will continue to work their way to the very top with the people whom they have grown to befriend, learn from, and most importantly, respect.
