As Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion turned 90 on February 14th, 2011, Theory6 was right there, ready to wish her. A Party was held at the Living Arts Center where numerous performances were held, and different organizations presented gifts and wished the Mayor. Theory6 Robotics walked in at around 6 o'clock dressed in team jersey's, a bag of gifts and Team 1241 souvenirs and 2 VEX Robots. The VEX Robots included Shadow, the team mascot, holding a ''Happy Birthday Mayor!'' sign.
When the team headed on stage to wish the Mayor, cheers could be heard from the crowd, and people seemed impressed by this Robotics team filled with youngsters. Theory6 gave its best wishes to Madame Mayor, and invited her to visit Rick Hansen and watch Team 1241 in motion. As they headed off stage, they met with curious MP, Bonnie Crombie, who was extremely impressed and intrigued by this young team of children ranging from Grade 6 to Grade 12. Sanjana Choksi gave Ms. Crombie, a brief description of what Theory6 actually was, and what do they actually do, and eventually invited her to watch as well. Ms. Crombie then drove Shadow around for a bit and promised to come visit soon.
Just as the team was packing up, they bumped into an old' pal, Councillor Ron Starr. Mr. Starr greeted the team with enthusiasm and delight and enjoyed driving Shadow once again, like he had done before.
Theory6 propagated the idea of youth engineering, FIRST, VEX and what Theory6 is doing in the community. It was truly a brilliant outing for Theory6 Robotics. The Mayor, an MP and City Councillor, all in one night!

On Saturday, January 8th, 2011, FIRST Robotics broadcasted live, the unveiling of the 2011 game 'Logomotion' on NASA TV. Thousands of people tuned in to watch as Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers, founders of FIRST Robotics Competition began the show. Other speakers included Walt Havenstein, Jon Dundas, Neal Bascomb, Amir Abo-Shaeer, Dave Lavery and the one and only, Will.I.Am. The broadcasted lasted for about an hour, and in the last fifteen minutes, every Robotics student, mentor and teacher was on the edge of their seat. As they announced the game, people just sat in awe as they revealed, Logomotion.
The Game was basically, the Robot had to pick up Game Pieces and places them on the pegs. The game pieces were: Ubertubes and the triangle, square and circle from the FRC logo. In the end game, the Robot had to deploy a minibot which raced up a pole. There was a 15 second autonomous period and 2 minutes of tele operation.
Rick Hansen was all worked up to watch the animation. People had already downloaded their encrypted manuals, and were only waiting for the password. As soon as the broadcast got over, Theory 6 went crazy on MSN Messenger and Skype. People were going haywire, talking about the game, printing off manuals and discussing tactics. Within thirty minutes of the broadcast finishing, more than 3/4th of the team was at school, already planning out their steps. Other rookie schools: Fletcher's, West Credit and Chinguacousy were also present. Mr. Hobbins, Phecda and other mentors were there as well. They went over the basic rules of the game and had a session where every student went over the rules and strategized about possible techniques for the robot. At the end of the day, everyone seemed pumped up, raring to go and do a little Logomotion.

The team generously donated new unwrapped toys to the Starlight Children's Foundation Canada that has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and life-altering injuries by providing entertainment, education and family activities that help them cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness. There were two large bags of toys for the toy drive, close to 40 items of toys if not more. Special thanks goes to Jim and Terisena who came in this morning with their SUV and loaded up all the toys and made the deliver to the Children's Starlight Foundation.

This year we decided to sponsor a family for the holidays, hence sponsored Kevin's Family. Kevin is a friendly and curious little boy with a loving disposition. He has been described as a young boy with a kind heart and was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia a short while ago. Kevin spends a lot of time at the hospital going through treatment or waiting to get into clinic to see the doctor. With the help of Team 1241, Kevin and his family received every gift listed from clothing, shoes, boots, snowpants, helmet, scooter, toys and DD movies. Congratulations to Team 1241F on achieving the Finalist Position (2nd) and now qualifying for the World's Championship in Disney, Orlando! It was huge spirit to see so many students in their blue and orange gear! The greatest advantage of working in a team is to learn to trust, learn to take risks and bring out leadership qualities. We definitely saw the results yesterday! Without the hard work and long hours of Mr. Hobbins, Mr. McCann and Mr. Jervis, along with the Rick Hansen Student Mentors - Thuvishan, Vedant, Harsh, Rajiv and many many more who taught, guided, helped and worked their way in moving the Fallingbrook team to victory, this would not have been possible. Stay tuned to hear more about the Rookie 1241F Middle School Team!

For October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Team 1241 made it their mission to show support for Breast Cancer victims and survivors. The team planned and executed two successful events and raised a significant amount of money for the cause. The events held were: a bake sale and a "tie-one-on" event. During the bake sale some team members participated in making and selling of delicious pink treats for the students and faculty in the morning as well as after school. The "Tie-one-on" event consisted of alumni members participating alongside students; In this campaign they helped raise awareness of activities going on throughout the last week of October by having a small group of students stand by each entrance of the school with pink ribbons that they were tied on to students' handbags, backpacks and arms, who in turn wore them to show their support as well their acknowledgement of the Breast cancer awareness related activities. The day was a wonderful vision of pink. Team 1241 planned two very successful and proactive events that truly made a difference in the community around them.

Along with many other FRC teams, Team 1241 was one of the few privileged teams to attend St.Mildred's- Lightbourn School in Oakville for a robotics symposium. All teams participated in divisions of FRC; from management to complicated ideas such as programming and mobility. The workshops were designed to help improve the teams skills in their specialized work areas. Everyone from industry mentors to previous FRC candidates took part in this event. The day moved on with the students splitting up into different groups to participate in the lessons planned by mentors from different teams. It was a great experience for all students because everybody learned many new strategies that could be used when working in their divisions. There was plenty of time for the teams to interact and socialize with each other.
